Jimmy Howard was born on November
27, 1951 in Hawkinsville, Georgia. A lifelong resident
of Hawkinsville, he attended Hawkinsville schools and
graduated in 1969. He attended Middle Georgia College
and Georgia Southwestern, majoring in business and
biology. An avid sports fan, he played football in high
school for the Mighty Red Devils.
He also played solo trumpet in the
concert band for four years. He often jokes about never
having enough sense to leave Hawkinsville but would
never want to try to live anywhere else.
Jimmy is a member of First Baptist
Church in Hawkinsville where he currently serves as
Vice-Chairman of the Deacons and sings in the choir.
He has also served as a Sunday School Teacher in the
children’s department, Church Sunday School Director,
and many committees over the years.
Jimmy has played the Dobro since
November, 2004. His “pride and joy” is the 1979 D60
Dobro he acquired in 2002.
Jimmy’s other interests include
fishing, hunting, fishing, eating, fishing, playing with
the Gooseneck String Band, fishing, and playing with the
greatest people in the world, his seven, soon to be
eight grandchildren. Oh, did I say, he also enjoys
fishing.
Jimmy feels that gospel bluegrass
is just one small way for him to share Jesus with
others. He thanks you for visiting our website and
urges you to check the band out by purchasing a CD or
attending one of their concerts soon!!!!!!
